Anti-Aging Mixed Berry Smoothie

Glasses and jars and bottles overflowing with cool smoothies and shakes and juices. This is what summer feels like.

Oh joy.

Ever since the enchantment of Spring and warmer weather, I’ve been on a guiltless smoothie splurge.  Er, who am I kidding? I never stopped even in the midst of winter!

With the sun shining bright and the delicate Kashmiri shawls wrapped away for next season, I’m ready to officially flaunt my love.

Yes, yes.

My love—endless love—for all things cool, creamy, dreamy and delightfully thick. The perfect summertime indulgence.

Homemade smoothies are the ideal solution for dessert cravings, with enough protein for an early morning pick-me-up, quick nourishing lunch, or guiltiness snacking. What more could you ask for?

Invariable I throw in any fruit or veggie into the blender. Anything I find in the fridge or pantry. But berries are my top most choice and a definite pantry staple. Why? They are low-cal and a potent source of antioxidants and flavors. Blend them with low-fat or skimmed yoghurt and you get a glass full of carb-controlled deliciousness without packing on the pounds. Yoghurt is a rich source of calcium and total protein, and low-fat or skimmed versions cut down on the fat.

Strawberry, blueberry, blackberry and raspberry yoghurt provides a potent doze of antioxidants—the perfect way to kick start a detox day.

The best bit? All it takes is a swift ride in the blender and, boom—you have the perfect power breakfast filled with energy boosting, disease fighting yumminess in each sip. Just the thing to get you started on a golden summer morning!

Blueberries and blackberries can feel gritty. Make sure to pass through a sieve and discard the seeds for a smooth sip.

Vegan? No problem! Swap raspberry yogurt for non-diary versions like soy yogurt or almond milk yogurt.

For a totally healthy sip, skip the sugar. If the berries are too tangy, use sweetener—sugar, honey, or a natural zero-calorie sweetener like stevia—to  sweeten to taste.

Ready to drink your way to young and healthy?
